PWC Malawi visited Nsanje South West and Machinga South East constituencies on 23rd and 24th of August 2022, respectively. The19 members of parliament and three female deputy ministers, were accompanied by Malawi’s SNP project point person, people from secretariat and other relevant stakeholders. The primary objective of the tour was to inspire girls to work hard in school and to return to school for those who had left for various reasons.

This effort falls within the girl child education, key thematic area of the parliamentary women’s Caucus work plan. The visit was also intended to educate locals on the consequences of gender-based violence, the necessity to report it, and effective methods for handling such incidents. It’s important to note also that Action Aid Malawi supported these tours for the parliamentary women’s caucus and secretariat, and that they were planned to take place in areas where Action Aid is also implementing some of its projects.
